Of all the sports on the rise in the United States and throughout the world, lacrosse is unique for its close knit communities. Successful Lax teams are much like the real silverback mountain gorilla clans of Africa. Sticking together is half the battle. Respect for clan members is of paramount importance.

Like a team captain in lacrosse, the silverback gorilla both inspires respect from within the family unit, and also demands respect from opposing adult male silverbacks (the opposing teams).
